Lewis James Harris was born in Ohio Sept. 14, 1830; moved with his parents to Indiana when quite young; was united in marriage to Sarah E. Berry Sept. 14, 1853, moved to Madison county, Iowa in the spring of ’54, where he lived till the time of his death, which occurred April 1, 1903.
To them were born eleven children. His wife and five children survive him. Four of the children died while quite young and two, Lucy Weeks and Martha A. Miller lived to grow to womanhood.
Mr. Harris was a kind and affectionate husband and father and was respected by all who knew him. The funeral services were held at the residence and were conducted by Rev. S. J. Callison.
