Died, Saturday, February 28, 1903, at 11 o’clock a. m., Miss Margaret Elizabeth Monaghan, of Douglas township after a lingering illness of several years. She was born in Winterset, June 2d, 1867, and soon afterwards moved with her parents to Douglas township, where the remainder of her life was spent.
She was a bright and intelligent young lady, having spent several years at St. Ambrose’s school in Des Moines, Ia., but owing to poor health was forced to give up school.
She was a faithful servant of God, and true to every duty. Most of her time was spent in repeating the rosary, that beautiful form of prayer of the Catholic faith.
Always cheerful and patient in all her suffering and conscious to the last – her death without a struggle. How sad, yet beautiful! Surrounded by relatives and friends, as her soul winged its flight to the Great Beyond.
The funeral was held at the home on Monday, conducted by rev, Father Molyneaux, after which she was laid to rest in the St. Patrick’s cemetery. May she rest in peace.
