Dale D. Palmer, 66, of Indianola, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines after a 6 month Battle with a brain tumor.
Dale was born September 23, 1943 on a farm in rural E. Peru, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968 after which he worked for NW Bell/ U.S. West/ Qwest retiring in 1998.
Surviving Dale are his wife of 40 years, Patricia (Dennis) Palmer of Indianola; daughter, Debra (Palmer) Mayberry (Jim) of Polk City, IA; sons, Jonathan Palmer (Brenda) of Madison, AL, Jeffrey Palmer (Deana) of Polk City, IA; 12 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Ida (Bill) Allen of Chelalis, WA; brothers, Gailen (Sherry) Palmer of Des Moines and Ronald (Vickie) Palmer of Earlham, IA. Other survivors include his maternal aunt; his mother-in-law; sisters and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Beatrice (Herman) Palmer; his grandson, Zachary Palmer; and his sister, Lela (Palmer) Bindle; and brother-in-law, Carl Bindle.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Indianola American Legion Post # 165. Any memorial contributions will go to either Disabled American Veterans in Des Moines, American Legion Post 165 where Dale was an active member or www.caringbridge.org
