ROBERT R. PETERS, PARACHUTE, COLORADO

Robert Richard Peters of Parachute, Colo., died Oct. 7 in Glenwood Springs.

Bob was born Nov. 30, 1929, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Richard and Grace (Hollingsworth) Peters. He graduated from City High in Iowa City and went on to attend the University of Iowa, later moving to Lake Charles, La., where he received training as a medical laboratory and x-ray technician at St. Patrick Hospital. There he was married and then returned to Iowa, working in hospitals and clinics in Iowa City, Marengo, Bloomfield and Winterset. In 1966 he moved to Colorado and lived and worked in Rifle, Aspen, Meeker and Grand Junction. Bob was an accomplished pianist and pipe organist. His love of Colorado included mountain climbing, camping, hiking, photography, downhill skiing, the hot springs and music festivals. He also loved his family, his friends and his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Gene Peters of Davenport, Iowa; his daughters, Karen Hollingsworth of Chicago, Ill., and Sara Carrigan of Eldora, Iowa; and stepsons Kenny and Tom Young of Rifle, Colo. Siblings include Barbara Bothell of Iowa City, Iowa, Donna Teefy of Marietta, Ga., and Kenneth Peters of Las Vegas, Nev. Mr. Peters is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
