VINCENT KING, Waukee

Vincent King, 91, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee with burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery near Cumming, Iowa at 1 p.m.

Vincent was born June 10, 1918, in Booneville, Iowa to Patrick and Mary Lou (McNamara) King. He graduated from Valley High School in 1936. Vincent was a farmer all of his life, a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, West Des Moines Zoning Board, ASCS Board for 25 years, member and past-president of the Madison County Angus Association and a sales clerk for auctions. He lived and was a farming assistant at Living History Farms, modern farmer operator for 31 years and the Chairman of the festival board for Living History Farms. Vincent enjoyed being a true steward of the land and church.

Vincent is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mabel King of Waukee; two brother-in-laws, Clarence (Betty) Dooley of Martensdale and Carl Pierce of Windsor Heights; many nieces and nephews and many friends who loved him.

Vincent was preceded in death by his, parents; brother, Leo King and four sisters, Marie, Clara, Winifred and Lillian.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa, St. Boniface Catholic Church or Living History Farms.
