Helen L. Moore, 78, of Des Moines died Oct. 16, 2009, at the Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines.

The family will greet friends from 10–11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home where a luncheon will be held following the visitation. At 1 p.m. funeral services will be held with burial to follow at Scotch Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Patterson United Methodist Church.

Helen Moore was born Nov. 5, 1930, to Leo and Mable Foust and attended Spring Hill School. In 1947, she married Francis W. Harpole. In 1974, she married Louis F. Moore Sr. Helen previously worked at the Bizzmart Super Valu in Winterset and at Earl May on Fleur Drive in Des Moines from 1981 to 2002. She was a member of the Y-Teens and the Patterson WSCS.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Moore; parents, Leo and Mable Foust; two brothers, Don and Bill Foust; two half-brothers, Howard Foust and Carl Van Pelt; and two half-sisters, Vivian Sorenson and Wilma Whitlow.

She is survived by three children — Linda Harpole Kraft of Winterset, Karen Harpole Kirk of Marshalltown and Jim Harpole of Newhall; stepchildren — Scott Moore of Ankeny, David Moore of Lake Berryessa, Calif., Meredith Paukert of Clearwater, Fla., Eric Moore of Murray and Skip Moore and Curt Moore, both of Des Moines; a sister, Velma Maxine Harpole of Patterson; and 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.

Helen L. Moore, 78, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on October 16, 2009, at the Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa. The family will greet friends from on Saturday, October 24, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home where there will be a luncheon to follow at 11:30 a.m. There will then be a 1 p.m. funeral service with burial to follow at Scotch Ridge Cemetery.

Helen was born on November 5, 1930, and had attended Spring Hill School. In 1947, she married Francis W. Harpole and had 3 children. In 1974, she married Louis F. Moore, Sr. She previously worked at the Bizzmart Super Valu in Winterset and at Earl May on Fleur Drive in Des Moines, Iowa, from 1981 to 2002. She was a member of the Y-teens and the Patterson WSCS.
