Obituary

Hiram Carlton Myers was born in Lincoln township, Madison county, Ia., June 6, 1866, and died in Winterset August 25, 1902 aged 28 years, 2 months and 19 days. Harry, as he was familiarly called was a Winterset boy and all of the older citizens were much interested in him. When but fifteen years of age he joined the Winterset Juvenile Cornet band and the following year began traveling with a troupe as a member. His career has been interesting, studying music here and there, an opportunity afforded. He belonged to the famous orchestra of Theodore Thomas and has played in all the leading cities in the United States and Canada. He has been in poor health for several years. Returning from Hot Springs, Arkansas, he has gradually succumbed to consumption.

His funeral was held at the home of his mother on Wednesday p.m. conducted by Rev. L. E. Follansbee and he was laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery.
