CLEO ROBY, Red Oak

Cleo F. Roby, 83, of Red Oak died Sept. 5, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society Care Center.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 10, at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with the Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery.

Cleo Roby was born Feb. 15, 1926, in St. Charles to Charles and Mable (Hess) Clarke and was a 1943 graduate of St. Charles High School. Her marriage to Paul Roby took place April 16, 1945, in Des Moines. They resided in Truro, Fairfield and Oskaloosa before moving to Red Oak in 1968. Cleo worked for a grocery store and the movie theater while in Truro and for the sheriff’s office in Fairfield. She also was employed by HyVee in Red Oak. During their retirement years, Paul and Cleo owned and operated Roby’s Cars.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lila Waller.

She is survived by her husband, Paul, of Red Oak; her children — Steven Roby and Michael Roby, both of Red Oak, and Robert Roby of Plattsmouth, Neb.; four sisters — Edna Shreeves-Keeton and Judith Bedwell, both of St. Charles, Norma Jean Lunnon of Fullerton, Calif., and Dorthea Edmunds of Sandy, Utah; four brothers — Charles Clarke Jr. of Beatrice, Neb., Phillip Clarke of Osceola, Norman Clarke of Waukee, and Jerry Clarke of Truro; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
