Mrs. Mary Pinckney, a pioneer of this county, died at the old home farm Sunday, Sept. 12th. Mary Arasmith was born in Vermilion county, Illinois, on Nov. 25, 1833 and died Sept. 12, 1915, aged 81 years, 9 months and 27 days.
When a young girl she moved to Henry county, Illinois, where she was united in marriage to J. W. Pinckney on Feb. 22, 1852. In the spring of 1869 they moved to this county, having lived on the home farm for 46 years.
To this union were born eight sons and three daughters. The eldest son, Alvin, and two daughters, having died several years ago. Those living are Harvey and John of Nebraska, Leo, Dan, Charles, Mrs. Hillberry, George and Joe of Macksburg.
In 1898 Mr. Pinckney departed this life and Mrs. Pinckney remained on the farm, living with her son, George. Mother Pinckney's last sickness was brief, lasting about ten days.
The funeral occurred on Tuesday at the M. E. church, of which the deceased was a member, conducted by Rev. Whitney. Interment was made beside her husband in the Moon cemetery.
