County and CityJ. G. Missildine, one of the early settlers of this county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sam Ralston, of South township, on Thursday of last week. He was buried in the McGinnis cemetery, west of Patterson, by the side of his wife, who died last spring.
He was born in South Carolina in 1823. In boyhood he removed to Ohio, and afterwards lived in Illinois and Minnesota before coming to Iowa. He was always known as an upright man and good citizen, enjoying the respect of his neighbors and the love and affection of his family and relatives. He was a Christian minister for many years.

Rev. Joseph Misseldine was born in Charleston, S.C., February 5th, 1823, and died at his home in this county, August 8th, 1901. The deceased moved to Ohio when quite a boy and lived there until grown, when he was married to Susan Trowbridge, August 15th, 1844. They resided for some time in Illinois and Michigan and moved in 1849 to Madison county which has since been their home. Mrs. Misseldine went to her last rest in April of the present year. Of five children born to them, two survive them, one daughter, Mary Rallston, who was present at the funeral and one son Amos, who resides in Oregon and was unable to attend the burial services.
The deceased was a staunch citizen and devoted Christian, being a member of the Christian church of which he had been a minister.
The funeral occurred last Friday conducted by Rev. Callison. The remains were laid to rest in the McGinnis cemetery.
