Death of Wm. H. Fudge

W. H. Fudge was born in Cumberland county, Kentucky, June 19, 1841, and died at his home 5 miles east of Winterset Aug. 9, 1901. He resided in Kentucky until grown, then went to Tennessee, where he married Amelia Eskew Mar. 31, 1862. They moved to Madison county, Iowa in 1868 and have lived here ever since. Deceased was converted and joined the M.E. church in 1862 but was afterwards a backslider. Before his death he again made his peace with God and his last words were “it is growing brighter and brighter” and an earnest appeal to his children and wife to “come home.” He was the father of five children, three of whom, Jno. M. Fudge, C. A. Fudge, Wm. A. Fudge together with his wife, survive him, and all reside in Madison county. The remains were interred Saturday August 10th at Blair Chapel, Rev. S. Zike, of Hillsdale, Ia., officiating. All the children and grandchildren besides a host of friends and other relatives were present. The deceased was a good citizen, a faithful husband and a kind father whose death is sincerely mourned.
