DANIEL B. MURPHY

Daniel B. Murphy was born in Highland County, Ohio March 29, 1845, died in Winterset September 4, 1915.

Mr. Murphy was married in Pike county, Ohio November 29, 1868 to Sarah A. Reed who died March 17, 1909. The couple came to Jasper county, Iowa in 1876 remaining there until March 1903, when they came to this county locating in Scott township.

Seven children were born to this union, Mrs. F. G. Libby, F. E. and T. E. and Flora of this county, Mrs. G. Vanderlan of Bolivar, Me., H. V. of Gibbon and W. L. of York, Nebr. All of whom were present at the funeral. Besides his children, he has two brothers, Win of Pike county, Ohio and J. H. of this county and one sister, Mrs. George West of Ohio who survive him.

In 1903 Mr. Murphy joined the M. E. church at Union Chapel of which he was a faithful member. Services were held at Union Chapel Monday morning conducted by Rev. W. G. Hohanshelt of this city.
