Walter V. Bennett of Douglas township, a well known retired farmer of this community, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 1966, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 82 years of age.
Mr. Bennett was a life-time resident of Madison county. He was a son of Andrew and Mary Gideon Bennett, and was born in Douglas township, May 30, 1884. His active life was spent in farming. He was a member of Winterset Evening Star lodge of the Masonic order and had completed 50 years of membership in 1964.
He was married at Winterset on Nov. 7, 1906, to Corgie M. McDonald, who survives him. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Roy Busch, two grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and a brother, George N. Bennett of DeSoto.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home conducted by the Rev. Everett K. Burham, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery with Masonic services at the graveside.
