Elmer D. second son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Parkins, of Jefferson township, passed from this earth August 6, 1901.
He was fifteen years and a few days old when death called him away. One brother preceded him to the Spirit land. Elmer was an unusually bright and obedient boy and the home is made dark by his absence. But we bow to the will of our Heavenly Father, who doeth all things well. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Elliot of the Van Meter charge. He preached from the text, “Not Dead but Sleeping” a beautiful and impressive sermon which touched the hearts of all. The remains were laid to rest in the Jefferson cemetery to await the resurrection morning followed by a large concourse of friends.
