Obituary

A. F. Lorimor was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, May 23, 1833, and died at his home in Eureka township, Barton county, Kansas, October 25, 1900, aged 67 years, 5 months and 2 days.

With his parents he moved to Ohio when three years of age. He was married in 1854 to Mary E. Morrow, and in that year moved to Madison county, Iowa, and resided in Lincoln township 31 years, where all his children were born. In 1885 he moved to Barton county and located in Eureka township. In 1888 his wife died. In 1892 he married Helen Simons, of Ohio, who died October 24, 1898.

Six children survive him—P.P., F.M., C.G. and F.S. Lorimor, all of Eureka township, Mrs. Fred Bloss, who lives at Plover, Col., and Mrs. J. J. Lewis, of Canon City, Col. Mr. Lorimor was a member of the United Presbyterian church. He was a man who was highly respected by all.

Funeral services were held at the Eureka township M.E. church on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Schnacke, of the Congregational church. The remains were buried in the Great Bend cemetery.

J.S. Lorimor, Iowa and Mrs. Carrie Reed, Warrensburg, Missouri, brother and sister of the deceased, were present at the funeral.

Transcriber's note: Transcribed as published. Despite the initials "A. F." in the obit, he was always known in Madison County as "Benjamin Franklin Lorimor".
