Funeral services for Robert S. Griffith, a lifetime resident of Madison Cunty, were held last Friday, at the First Methodist Church in Winterset. Mr. Griffith, 85, died Wednesday, September 11, 1974, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Mr. Griffith was born in Union Township on October 16, 1888, the son of David and Hester Miller Griffith. He was married to Berniece Deets in Des Moines on February 16, 1917.
A retired farmer, Mr. Griffith had helped organize the Madison County Farm Bureau organization and the farm service here. He was affiliated with the First Methodist Church of Winterset.
Mr. Griffith is survived by his wife, Berniece; by a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Lois) Butcher of Indianola; and by a son Wayne A. Griffith of Winterset. Aso surviving are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. last Friday, September 13, at the First Methodist Church in Winterset, with the Rev. Paul Bousfield officiating. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
