GARY RIDOUT SR., LORIMOR

Gary Lee Ridout Sr. “G-Man,” 64, of Lorimor died Aug. 11, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Winterset Community Church. Burial with military honors was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Winterset Wrestling Mat Club. Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.

Gary Ridout was born Oct. 12, 1944, in St. Charles to Wayne and Flossie (Shearer) Ridout. His marriage to Kathleen Anderson took place June 24, 1967, in Omaha, Neb. Gary was a hobby farmer and worked for AT&T for 35 years, retiring in 1997. He also served in the United States Army National Guard. His memberships included the Winterset Community Church, Optimist Club, V.F.W. Post 8142, American Legion Post 184, and Masonic Lodge 43 of Winterset. He also was a Shriner and a member of the Pioneers and Communication Workers of America.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wendell Ridout; and a grandson, Colby.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, of Lorimor; his children — Gary Ridout Jr. of Indianola, Marc Ridout of Lorimor, and Stacy Darr of Indianola; two brothers, Bill Ridout of Lorimor and Raymond Ridout of Van Meter; a sister, Karen Jordon of Des Moines; and six grandchildren.

Gary Lee Ridout was born October 12, 1944 in St. Charles, Iowa, the son of Wayne and Flossie (Shearer) Ridout. He married Kathleen Anderson on June 24, 1967, in Omaha, Nebraska. Together, they raised three children: Gary, Jr., Marc, and Stacy.

Gary served in the United States Army National Guard. He worked for AT&T for 35 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Winterset Community Church. He was a member of the Optimist Club, the VFW Post 8142, American Legion Post 184 and Masonic Lodge 43 of Winterset, and he was a Shriner. He was also a member of the Pioneers and CWA (Communication Workers of America).

Gary grew up on a farm and considered himself a hobby farmer. He was a regular outdoorsman; he loved to fish, hunt, garden, and loved to tinker.

Gary also enjoyed John Wayne westerns, antique cars and tractors, and playing cards with his family. Most of all, Gary cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren, and loved them dearly.

Gary died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at his home. He was 64.

Gary will be deeply missed by his wife, Kathleen of Lorimor; his children, Gary Ridout, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Indianola; Marc Ridout of Lorimor, and Stacy Darr and her husband, Tim, of Indianola; two brothers, Bill Ridout and wife, Evelyn of Lorimor and Raymond Ridout and wife Betty of Van Meter; a sister Karen Jordan and husband, Tim of Des Moines; and six grandchildren, Blake, Sidney, Tessa, Nolan, Jacob and T.J.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wendell Ridout; and a grandson, Colby.
