DAVID CLINE

David Cline was born near Betts, Louisa county, Iowa, Oct. 24, 1846 and died at his home near Winterset, Aug. 16, 1925, aged 78 years, 9 months and 22 days.

He came with his parents to Madison county in 1854 and located on a farm in Douglas township, where he lived for 54 years. The past 15 years of his life were spent at the present home in Douglas township.

On Oct. 25, 1877, he was united in marriage to Mary Welsh, who preceded him in death, Feb. 17, 1917. Four children were born to this union: John, Roy and Nora surviving; one child having died in infancy. Besides the children, he leaves two grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Malinda Church of Marshalltown and Mrs. W. H. Paulin of Winterset, besides a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

He was a man of great patience and kindness. During the past few years his health had been declining and his loving heart ceased its struggle after a long and useful life.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Josephs church in Winterset, conducted by Rev. Mathias O'Loughlin, and burial at the Stringtown cemetery.
