Death of Mrs. Chas. Allgeyer

Mrs. Chas. Allgeyer passed away on last Friday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Wilheim, with whom she had made her home since the death of her husband several years ago. Mrs. Allgeyer had been failing in health for some time and for the past two months was under the care of a special nurse. An attack from heart ailment on last Tuesday was the immediate cause of death.

Mrs. Allgeyer, whose maiden name was Ellen Rogan, was a daughter of the late James Rogan, Sr., one of the early settlers in the west part of Douglas township where he settled in 1859. He was a stone cutter by trade and the stone house on the old Rogan farm is a lasting monument to his skill and industry. Mrs. Allgeyer, who was born in Scotland 72 years ago, was the last of the family. She was a woman of fine Christian character, whose good deeds and kindly spirit will long be remembered by her friends and long time neighbors in the West Star neighborhood.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Luke Plunkett, were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic church on Monday and burial made in the Stringtown cemetery. Surviving members of the family are: Mrs. Minnie Wilheim, Mrs James Monaghan, Otis, Joseph and Lloyd Allgeyer, all of whom reside in this vicinity.
