VERNON TULLY Des Moines

Vernon Tully was born to Eli Scotland Tully and Clara Schneider on March 11, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa.

He married Evelyn Hills, they had one son Robert (Bob) Tully and one daughter Velta Kay (Brooks). Evelyn and his children Kay and Bob preceded him in death.

He later married Mary Clayhorn and had three step-children.

Mary preceded him in death. He was married for a short time to Ruth Cunningham who also preceded him in death.

Vernon has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren.

Vernon graduated from East High in Des Moines. He went into the Navy in 1942 and served until 1945. He was called back to duty in 1950 where he fought in the Korean War.

Vernon worked at Iowa Packing House in Des Moines until they closed their doors. He was a wonderful carpenter and enjoyed working with wood. He was a kind and giving man who never made you feel unworthy or judged. He was greatly loved in return by all those whose lives he touched.

He is survived by a brother Howard Tully of Des Moines and a sister Frances Malloy of Oklahoma. He is also survived by a special friend, Ernestine Thomas of Des Moines.

He was also preceded by two brothers Ernest and Bob Tully, two sisters Opal Riddle and Ioma Taylor, a granddaughter, and a great-great granddaughter.

Note: Cremains buried in Winterset, Iowa cemetery on August 8, 2009
