Maquis Alvin Bennett, oldest son of Andrew and Mary Gideon Bennett was born in Madison county Sept. 29, 1866 and departed this life at Mercy hospital, Des Moines, Sept. 29, 1922, being 56 years of age.
The greater part of his life had been spent in Madison county, except 13 years being spent in Montana and the last four years in Wyoming, coming home to Iowa last June after his health had failed.
He leaves his aged mother, one sister, Mrs. Andrew Allen of Adel and five brothers: F. A., of Chicago; Gerald M. of Benson, Minn.; A. L., George N. and W.V., of this county. His father and two sisters having preceded him in death.
Besides his immediate family, he leaves other relatives and a host of friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the family home Sunday afternoon, Rev. G D. Rogers officiating. Hundreds of people filled the house and grounds.
Note: Burial was in the Bennett cemetery
