Winfield Scott Griffith was born in Baltimore, Md., June 11, 1854, died at his home in Madison county, Iowa, April 19, 1900. He came to Madison county about the year 1880; was united in marriage to Miss Kate Norris in 1884. To them was born one son (Ersie). Wife and son both survive him.

The funeral services were held by Rev. Mott Mitchell of the M.E. church, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Bennett cemetery.
