LYLE ALPHA LEEPER, Earlham

Lyle A. Leeper, age 84, died at Madison Co. Memorial Hospital in Winterset, IA on July 28, 2009.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday August 1, 2009 at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham, where the family will greet friends following the service for fellowship and refreshments.

Lyle farmed in Madison County for 30 years and retired to Arizona and then to Texas.

He is survived by: his son Stephen Leeper of Urbandale; son Randy Leeper; son Rick Leeper and wife Laurie of Earlham, brother Gail Leeper and wife Sally of Winterset; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

LYLE LEEPER, EARLHAM

Lyle Alpha Leeper, 84, of Earlham died July 28, 2009, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 1, at Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham with Pastor Neal Hanley officiating. Interment of the cremains was at Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Mesa, Ariz.

Lyle Leeper was born Feb. 10, 1925, in rural Madison County to Carroll Francis and Elma Sonora (Callison) Leeper. Lyle attended Earlham High School and worked as an auto and tractor mechanic for 10 years in the Madison County area. His marriage to Esther Taylor took place in January of 1945. In 1954, Lyle started farming in the Penn Center area, retiring in 1984 when he and Esther moved to Arizona. Lyle moved to Texas, following Esther’s death in 1999, where he continued to work in part-time jobs for several years. In 2008, Lyle returned to Earlham, living at Madison Manor until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother, Corneil Leeper.

He is survived by three sons, Stephen Leeper of Urbandale, Randy Leeper and Rick Leeper of Earlham; a brother, Gail Leeper of Winterset; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
