ERMA BENTLER, Earlham

Erma Bentler was born the daughter of August H. and Otilda (Boeddeker) Breitbarth on August 30, 1919, at Niota, Illinois, and died at the Community Care Center in Stuart, IA, on July 19, 2009.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Adel with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Dallas Center, Iowa.

Erma graduated from S.S Peter and Paul High School in Nauvoo, Illinois and also graduated from Ottumwa Heights College in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was a teacher in the Hancock, Illinois County School for six years.

Erma married Irvin Bentler of Houghton, Iowa on December 28, 1942, at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Erma leaves to celebrate her life: son David Bentler of Dexter; son Edward Bentler(Susan) of Earlham; daughter Deborah (Larry) Corkrean of Winterset; daughter Linda Pickering of Carlisle; daughter Brenda (Terry) Dhabalt of Earlham; sister Marcella Thompson of Carthage, Illinois; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Irvin; daughter-in-law Sheryl Bentler; two brothers and three sisters.
