FRANK JONES, Winterset

Frank Jones, 80, of Winterset died June 30, 2009, at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with the Rev. Sue Blader officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6–8 p.m. Memorials given to the family will be designated for future considerations. Burial will be at Field Cemetery in Clarke County.

Frank Jones was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Clarke County to Ed and Velma (Sullivan) Jones. Frank grew up in the Truro area, graduating from Truro High School. His marriage to Glida Mae Cline took place Feb. 20, 1949, in Osceola. Frank started out farming, then worked at a salvage yard. He later worked for Bradey Manufacturing and Reed Feeds and retired as a propane delivery driver. His memberships included Two Cylinder Club, Madison County Sportsman’s Club (lifetime member), Winterset Masonic Lodge, Lorimor Masonic Lodge (past Master), Good Sam’s Camping Club, and the Truro First Christian Church. He also was involved with the WHO Radio Tractor Ride Across Iowa since its inception. Frank had resided in Winterset since 1962.

He is survived by his wife, Glida, of Winterset; one son, Ray Jones of Winterset; one daughter, Mary Cox of Winterset; a sister, Ardie Leggett of Beatrice, Neb.; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
