JACK W. MCFARLAND is Crash Victim

Jack W. McFarland, 40, of near Winterset, was killed last Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1968, when the car he was driving was struck broadside by a rock truck at the Union Chapel corner about seven miles east of Winterset. - - - -

Mr. McFarland had been a resident of the Winterset community the last 10 years and was president of the McFarland Brothers Construction Co. Inc., here.

He was a native of Missouri, where he was born at Eagleville, in Harrison county, on Oct. 27, 1928, a son of Walter W. and Frances Aleen Smith McFarland. As a young man he was married to Niada Honn who survives him.

He was a member of the Brethren church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves eight children, Pamela McFarland of Los Angeles, Calif., Michael McFarland who is serving in the U.S. armed forces in California, and Jerry, Rene, Ricky, Rebecca, Goeffry and Rodney McFarland, all at home. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Aleen McFarland of Decatur; a sister, Mrs. Linda Boord of Edmonds, Wash.; and six brothers, James McFarland of Earlham, Donald McFarland of Seattle, Wash., Douglas McFarland of Davis City, Larry McFarland of Des Moines, and David McFarland of Decatur.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Wilson Fuenral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Charles Updike, pastor of the Winterset Foursquare church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
