Lyle C. Day, 78, of Harlingen, Texas, died of cancer, February 1, 1998 at his home. Funeral services were February 5 at the Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen with burial following at the Restlawn Memorial Park in LaFeria, Texas.

Lyle was born Nov. 6, 1919 in Lorimor, Iowa to Bryan and Marie "Bee" Day He married Norma Mae Hircock, daughter of Ray and Glee Warren Hircock on October 13, 1937 in Winterset, Iowa. They lived in Winterset and he was the bulk agent for the Continental Oil Company and moved to Denver, Colo in 1956 where he was a vulcanizer for Gates Rubber Company for 30 years. In 1980 they moved to Harlingen, Texas where they retired. He was the president of the Home Owners Association at Palm Vista Estates.

Lyle served in the United States Navy in World War two. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Norma Mae [Hircock] Day; Three daughters, Barbara Stefanski of Denver, Colorado, Sharon K. Roland of Denver, Colorado and Linda Houch of Harlingen, Texas; one sister, Margaret Jean Thompson of Lafayette, Colorado; two sister-in-law Jean Jeffs and husband Jack of Winterset and Ethel McMains and Luther of Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
