Our community was terribly shocked on Tuesday afternoon by the death of Little Ruth, the daughter of Mr. Wakefield of Hotel Winsor.

Ruth, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Wakefield, died very suddenly on Tuesday afternoon, April 24, from membraneous croup. She had been ill only three days and in spite of everything that medical skill and loving parents could do her little spirit refused to linger longer in its earthly tenement and at 9:30 o’clock took flight to that beautiful city above.

Ruth Wakefield was born November 12, 1892, in Orange City, Sioux county, Iowa, and came to Earlham with her parents only a few weeks ago. She was a delicate child and was subject to sore throat.

The funeral services were conducted from her late home on Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Best, assisted by Rev. McGrew, and the remains laid away in the Earlham cemetery. The pall bearers were six young ladies.

The entire community sympathizes with the sorrowing parents in their bereavement.
