Mrs. Jane Jones died on Monday morning, May 13, after an illness of one week, at the home of son, D. R. Jones. One week previous to her death she had a paralytic stroke which rendered her speechless and she passed away without recovering the power to talk. She did not seem to suffer any pain and her transit from this life to the bright beyond was calm and peaceful. During life she was a faithful follower of Him who bid the tired and heavy laden to come unto Him and He would give them rest, and we think that today Sister Jones is enjoying the fulfillment of that promise.

Sarah Jane Ramsey was born in Morgan county, Indiana, November 18, 1822. In her youth she united with the M.E. church, and remained a faithful member to the end. The home of her youth was thrown open for use as a church for public worship where many a blessing was experienced.

On June 23, 1850, she was united in marriage to Rev. J. E. Jones of the M.E. church, and forty-six years they labored together in the Master’s vineyard. On October 2, 1896, Brother Jones passed to his reward.

To this union was born three sons and two daughters, one son and one daughter having preceded their parents to the realms above. The surviving children, D. R. and Julia of this city, J. B. of Platt Center, Neb., and Mrs. Lizzie Salyers of Spring Hill, Iowa, were all present at the mother’s bedside when the grim messenger came.

The funeral services were held in the M.E. church on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Mitchell, and was largely attended. The remains were laid away in the Earlham cemetery.
