Obituary

William Wright died at his home in the eastern part of the city, Sunday the 15th inst., aged 59 years. Mr. Wright was born in Roanoke, Va., and came to Madison county in 1857. In 1861 he enlisted in Co. I., 4th Iowa cavalry, and re-enlisted as a veteran in December, 1863, and was mustered out at Atlanta, Ga., in October, 1865. He went west some years ago and returned to Winterset last November.

The funeral occurred Monday afternoon under the auspices of the G.A.R. Sermon by Rev. L. E. Folansbee. Burial in the Baptist cemetery northeast of the city.

Died.

Wm. Wright died at his home on East Jefferson street in Winterset, Sunday April 15, at 6 o’clock, aged 59 years.

The deceased was born in Roanoke, Virginia, and came to Winterset in 1858. At the breaking out of the rebellion in 1861 he enlisted in Co. I, 5th Iowa Cavalry. Re-enlisted as a veteran in Oct. 1863, and was mustered out of service at Atlanta, Georgia, in December 1865.

He left here and for a number of years resided in Kansas and Nebraska; returned to this city last November.

The funeral occurred from the residence Monday afternoon under auspices of Pitzer Post, G.A.R., Rev. Follansbee preaching the sermon. He was a member of the G.A.R. Post at Centralia, Wash. He was the father of Frank and Charley Wright of this city, and has three brothers and other relatives living in the county.
