JAMES WHITE, WISCONSIN

James E. “Jim” White, 75, of Kenosha, Wis., died June 2, 2009, at United Hospital Systems - Kenosha Campus.

Funeral services were conducted by V.F.W. Post 1865 Saturday, June 6, at Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated later at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kenosha. A private inurnment was held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. Wis.

Jim White was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Winterset to Robert and Thelma (Gordon) White. He attended school in Winterset and in Bell and Chico, Calif. Jim enlisted in the Navy on July 9, 1951, and served on various ships, retiring Aug. 16, 1976, as a senior chief petty officer. His marriage to Jane C. Behrendt of Milwaukee took place April 22, 1961, at the Pearl Harbor Submarine Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. Jim moved to Kenosha upon retiring from the Navy. He was employed at MacWhyte Wire Rope Company and retired from American Motors/Chrysler in 1995. Following his retirement, he worked as a ranger at the Petrifying Springs Golf Course. Jim was a life member of the V.F.W. Junker-Ball Post 1865 and served two terms as commander and three terms as quartermaster.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

He is survived by one son, David White of River Forest, Ill.; two daughters, Jill White and Vicki Van Kammen, both of Kenosha, Wis.; a brother, Richard R. White of Red Bluff, Calif.; and four granddaughters.
