RONALD WOODLEY, Winterset

Ronald G. Woodley, 83, of Winterset died May 25, 2009, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 28, at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg. Visitation will be from 1–8 p.m. today (Wednesday, May 27) at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, where the family will be present to receive friends from 6–8 p.m. Burial will be at Lorimor Cemetery immediately following the services. Memorial contributions may be directed to Ronald’s family to designate to charities at a later date. Online condolences to the family may be made at ochiltree.com.

Ronald Woodley was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Cherokee to M.B. and Effie (McCullough) Woodley. He was married to Bettie Jean Nitzche for 28 years and to this union two daughters were born, Connie and Peggy. He later married Norma (Kirk) Hines on April 4, 1976, in Winterset. Ronald, a lifelong resident of Madison County, farmed and raised Angus cattle.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bettie; two sisters, Velma Estell and Fern Peterson; a brother, Mervyn; a granddaughter, Brenda Smith; and a great-grandson, Joneus Wagner.

He is survived by his wife, Norma, of Winterset; his daughters, Connie Fizer of Creston, Peggy Kirkland of Lorimor, Lynn Hauser of Winterset, and Holly Schutz and Nancy Mountain, both of Macksburg; a brother, Merrit Woodley of Winterset; and 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
