Hiram Landers, an old settler and respected citizen who lived south of Patterson, died Monday evening and was buried, Wednesday in the Union Chapel cemetery.

Hiram Landers was born in Putman county, Ind., September 20, 1845. Died at his home in Madison county, Iowa, March 19, 1900. He came to Iowa with his parents, when about seven years old.
He was married to Eliza Debord May 23, 1869. To them were born three boys and one girl. The mother and two boys are dead. March 17, 1877, he was married to Nancy Allison. This union was blessed with ten children, eight girls and two boys. The mother, girls, and one boy survive the father, besides three brothers and two sisters.
He was a kind and devoted Christian, having joined the Christian church seven years ago. He was faithful to the end.

Hiram Landers died at his home, southwest of here, on March 20th. He had been a sufferer for some time of consumption. The funeral services were held the following day at Union Chapel, after which he was honorably buried by the Odd-Fellows, a society of which he was a member.
