Margaret Helen Young was born at Shelbyville, Indiana, February 22, 1838. Was married to John McAndrew October 5, 1865 and departed this life March 16th at her home in Winterset, Iowa, at the age of 68 years and 24 days.

Mr. and Mrs. John McAndrew were pioneer settlers of Iowa, coming to Warren county in 1856. In 1872 they moved to Winterset which has been their home for a period of 34 years. Mrs. McAndrew united with the M. E. church in girlhood. Her life was one of unselfish devotion to her home. Though afflicted with ill health and suffering, she bore her lot with Christian fortitude and a kind, loving disposition endeared her to all who knew her.

While she had been in frail health for some time, her death was unexpected and a shock to her friends and loved ones. On Thursday evening last, her physician was in attendance and she retired in good spirits but complaining of extreme weakness. During the night time, she expired; apparently while asleep.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. W. Matheny from the home on Sunday afternoon. She is survived by the husband, and one daughter, Mrs. Will Hudson of Harlan, Iowa.
