Frank L. Gronert, 90, passed away on February 13, 2004. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Del Lago Funeral Chapel, 131 South Lakeside Drive; Lake Worth, Fla.

He was born in Denison, Iowa, and moved to Florida in 1983 after a successful career in Des Moines, Ia., as an entrepreneur in electronics and computers. He was active in the Television Servicemen's Association and editor of the newsletter for the Iowa association. Among other honors, he was elected a Fellow of the Radio Club of America. Once an active pilot, he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. A resident of Briny Breezes, Fla., for 14 years, he served on the Town Council, was president of the Boating and Fishing Club and was active in the Chiselers and Curtain Raisers Clubs. He was a WWII Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater. He attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lantana, FL and was a member of the Atlantis Golf Club.

Married to Elizabeth Crawford in 1940, she predeceased him. He later married Helen Hays of Des Moines, who also predeceased him. In 1997 he married Hazel C. Griffith of Atlantis, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; sons, Gary and David; daughters, Linda Yoder and Diane Druian; sister, Josephine Nanninga; brothers, Nub, Walt and Norry; stepdaughters, Barbara Gamber, Joan Charysyn, Jean Lewis, Marge Gann, Charlotte Carr, Janice Schmidt; stepson, Charles Tolliver; eight grandchildren; nineteen step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue; West Palm Beach, Fla., 33407; the Alzheimer's Association, 700 S. Dixie Hwy, Suite 107, West Palm Beach, Fla., 33401; or to the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1000 Lantana Road, Lantana, Fla., 33462.

BRINY BREEZES ALDERMAN FRANK L. GRONERT, 90

Services were held Monday for longtime Briny Breezes Alderman Frank L. Gronert, who died Friday at 90.

The Iowa native owned several electronics and computer businesses in the Des Moines area. He retired and moved to Florida in 1983 and was elected to the Board of Aldermen soon after that. He resigned the board in December 1997 when he moved to Atlantis.

Mr. Gronert's wife Elizabeth died in 1970. His second wife, Helen, died in 1997. He is survived by his wife Hazel; sons, Gary of Bloomington, Minn., and David of Des Moines; daughters, Linda Yoder of Morton, Ill., and Diane Druian of Kingman, Ariz.; sister Josephine Nanninga of Bellevue, Wash.; brothers, Walter of Des Moines, Norbert (Nub), of Indianola, Iowa, and Norris, of Marion, Iowa; six stepdaughters; eight grandchildren, 19 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
