Paul John Wiedmann, 75, of Osceola died April 10, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 13, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with Father Glen officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Churchville. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa in Osceola.

Paul Wiedmann was born Oct. 27, 1933, in Warren County to William Anton and Gladys Theresa (Shafer) Wiedmann and was a graduate of St. Charles Consolidated High School. He was a member of the Catholic faith. He also was a veteran of the United States Army (1953-55) and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in the Mountaineers. Paul farmed and also drove a truck for various companies such as Iowa Pack, McMillan Oil and Briggs. His marriage to Darlene Joyce Speicher took place June 10, 2000, in Carlisle. They lived in Weldon and Osceola and wintered in Arizona over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Barbara Wilson Wiedmann.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Osceola; his children — Kathy Simmons of Truro, Patty Johnson, Jan Farlow and Deanna Strawn, all of St. Charles, Steve Wiedmann and Wayne Wiedmann, both of Des Moines, and Angie Feurer of Sheffield, Ill.; his stepchildren — Linda Bartholomew of Carlisle, Rich Seals of Spring, Texas, Deb McCauley of Ankeny, and Karen Ellis of Johnston; a brother, William Wiedmann of West Des Moines; three sisters, Catherine McCrea of St. Charles, Irene Frueh of Winterset and Dorothy Jefferies of Des Moines; and 20 grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Paul John Wiedmann, son of William Anton Wiedmann and Gladys Theresa (Shafer) Wiedmann was born October 27, 1933, in Warren County, Iowa and passed from this life April 10, 2009, at his home in Osceola, Iowa at 75 years of age.

Paul graduated from St. Charles Consolidated High School. Following graduation, Paul served his country in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in the Mountaineers and loved the mountains.

Paul worked as a farmer and also was a truck driver for various companies such as Iowa Pack, McMillan Oil and Briggs.

On June 10, 2000, he was united in marriage to Darlene Joyce Speicher in Carlisle, Iowa. They have lived in Weldon and Osceola and have wintered in Arizona over the years.
Paul enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, square dancing, playing cards (cribbage and pitch), cooking, yodeling, and singing. He had a great voice and once sang a song on stage with Barbra Streisdand. He was also a member of the Catholic Faith.

Those relatives who preceded Paul in death were his parents; and his first wife, Barbara Wilson Wiedmann.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Darlene Wiedmann of Osceola; his children, Kathy (Bruce) Simmons of Truro, Patty Johnson of St. Charles, Steve Wiedmann of Des Moines, Wayne (Beth) Wiedmann of Des Moines, Deanna (Joel) Strawn of St. Charles, Jan (Kevin) Farlow of St. Charles, Angie Feurer of Sheffield, IL; step children, Linda (Rob) Bartholomew of Carlisle, Rich (Mary) Seals of Spring, TX, Deb (Doug) McCauley of Ankeny, Karen (Alan) Ellis of Johnston; grandchildren, Chris (Meagan) Simmons, Cantrelle (Jacob) Collazo, Heather (Nick) Bishop, Heidi Nestler, Kenny Brown, Sean Wiedmann, Stephen Wiedmann, Natalie Wiedmann, Megan Wiedmann, Jacob Wiedmann, Amber Wiedmann, Jared Wiedmann, Abby Wiedmann, Timothy Strawn, Kayla Farlow, Amanda Farlow, Logan Farlow, Aubrey Coble, Nicholas Glubczynski, Madison Mares; step grandchildren, Jen (Derek) Nordhagen, Kerrie (Anthony) VanBroekhuizen, Samatha Seals, Seth Bauer, Blake & Trevor Kilgore, Breanna & Mackenzie Ellis; great grandchildren, Sydney Collazo, Samantha Stocking, Brandon Bishop, Sawyer Bishop, Kaden Bishop, Tristen Claxton, Hunter Brown, Vanna Wiedmann; brother, William Wiedmann of West Des Moines; sisters, Catherine (Phil) McCrea of St. Charles, Irene Frueh of Winterset, Dorothy Jefferies of Des Moines; other relatives and a host of friends.
