J. Nadine Berkley, 93, died March 1, 2009, at the Urbandale Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, March 4) at the First Baptist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Mike Carlson and the Rev. Dr. John Shaull officiating. Family will receive friends today from 1 p.m. till service time at the church. Burial will be at Bixby Cemetery in Bixby, Okla. Memorials given to the family will be directed to the First Baptist Church or Mercy Foundation. Arrangements were handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
Nadine Berkley was born May 29, 1915, in Cassville, Mo., to Roy and Josie (Morgan) Beeson. Her marriage to James Leonard Berkley took place Sept. 10, 1939, in Tulsa, Okla. A resident of Winterset since 1982, Nadine had previously resided in Grand Rapids, Mich., from 1947–1982. While living in Grand Rapids, she was employed by General Motors as a factory worker. Nadine had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Cleo Beeson and Emory Beeson; and two sisters, Christine Bush and Erma Buck.
She is survived by one son, Dr. G. Leon Berkley of Ankeny; six brothers, Kenneth Beeson and Don Beeson, both of Cassville, Mo., Wayne Beeson of Hobbs, N.M., Owen Beeson of Exeter, Mo., Mitchell Beeson of Monett, Mo., and Chuck Beeson of Tulsa, Okla.; three sisters, Leora Batten of Tulsa, Okla., Maxie Cooper of Irving, Texas, and Mildred Queen of Sperry, Okla.; and five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
