IVAL MARTIN MEASE, SHAWNEE, KANSAS

Ival Martin Mease, 89, formerly of Truro, died Feb. 17, 2009, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Congregational Christian United Church of Christ in Truro, Iowa.

Ival was born in Linneus, Mo., on Aug. 24, 1919, to Lewis and Mabel Mease. He lived most of his life on the family farm near Truro, graduating from Truro High School in 1936. On Jan. 1, 1940, Ival married Edith Johnson. He served as a committee member for the Madison County Democratic Party and served on the Truro Methodist Church Board and Truro School Board. Ival and Edith were honored as King and Queen of the Madison County Covered Bridge Festival in 1998. In 2004, Ival moved to Kansas City to live with son Martin. As a lifetime member of his church choirs, Ival’s love for music never diminished.

Ival will be missed by his daughters, Sharon Burns of Norwalk and Janet (Ed) Downs of St. Charles; son, Martin (Laura) of Kansas City; grandchildren, Becki (Sean) Sullivan, Julie (Mike) Lubbe, Troy (Teresa) Downs, Derek (Sharon) Downs, and Lewis Mease; and many great-grandchildren. Ival was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Mease; parents; sister, Ines Dickinson; grandson, Brendon Mease; and great-grandson, Dylan Downs.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Congregational Christian United Church of Christ, Truro.

Arrangements were handled by Brooks Funeral Care in Clive.
