More Tips

The funeral of the late Jesse Truitt will be held at the home Friday afternoon at two o’clock; providing a daughter, who lives in Arkansas, will be able to reach here, and if not it will be deferred until she arrives. Thus, until word is received from her, fixing the time of her arrival the exact hour for the funeral cannot be announced. As we go to press we learn that word has been received from the daughter, and the hour of the funeral has been set at two o’clock, Saturday afternoon.

Death of Jesse Truitt

The death of Jesse Truitt yesterday morning about nine o’clock while not a surprise caused deep sorrow throughout the community. Jesse has been in very poor health for many years, an old army trouble, contracted while in the service of his country. Through all these years of suffering he has been subjected to periodical attacks of the old disease, both of heart and lungs, and many times recovered when it was not thought possible. Everybody knew that sooner or later it would carry him off, which it did yesterday.

Mr. Truitt was an old settler of Madison county and one of its best citizens. He served honorably through the civil war for which he gave health and finally his life. The community mourns the loss of a worthy citizen. He leaves an aged wife who is an invalid, and two daughters, to whom all extend their deepest sympathy.
