Mesa, AZHallowell, Helen Lorraine (Thrailkill) the daughter of Charles Arthur and Myrtle Frances Boyle Thrailkill, was born September 22, 1932 at Dexter, Iowa.
She passed away at The Hospice Of The Valley in Mesa, Arizona on January 15, 2009, with her husband of 53 years at her side.
Helen grew up on the family farm outside of Earlham, Iowa. She graduated from Earlham Consolidated Schools in 1950. She attended and graduated from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked as a Registered Nurse from 1953 to her retirement in 1992.
On July 10, 1955, Helen was united in marriage to Richard E. Hallowell in The First Methodist Church Chapel of Harlingen, Texas. One son, Gary Michael blessed this marriage. Helen and Richard spent 20 years traveling the world while Richard served in the U. S. Air Force. Following military life they lived in Virginia, Colorado and later in Mesa, Arizona where they lived until Helen's death. Helen joined the Methodist Church as a young woman and remained a member until her death. She loved her family and grand kids, was an avid golfer and enjoyed quilting and sewing.
She is survived by her husband, Richard, of over 53 years; a son, Gary Michael, and two granddaughters, Melissa and Kathleen, all of Northern Virginia. Also surviving are a brother, John Thrailkill of Bethany, Missouri and a sister, Mrs. Carol Claussen of Ogden, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Thrailkill Meyers, and a brother, Wayne Thrailkill.
