Earlham, Iowa

Richard Allan Dingman, age 49, or rural Macksburg, Iowa and formerly of the Glidden and Scranton areas died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on January 31, 1986 as the result of a massive stroke. The Dingmans have lived at Macksburg for the past three years, prior to that they have lived at Earlham, Scranton and Minnesota.

He was born September 9, 1936 at Carroll, Iowa and was married to Roberta Clark on June 5, 1955 at the United Methodist Church in Scranton by the Rev. Blackman. He was the son of Robert and Vera Bennett Dingman. He had served in the National Guard from 1955 to 1959. Richard was a member of the Methodist Church and had attended Scranton Schools.

Surviving are his wife Roberta of Macksburg, a son Michael and his wife Kathy of Georgia, a daughter Mrs. Scott (Michelle) Hartman of Creston, a son Scott and his wife Tina of Lincoln, Nebraska, a son Timothy of Simpson College at Indianola and a daughter Trish at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, a son Kenneth at home, three grandchildren, Aaron, Sara and April, the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Wanda Stephenson of Glidden, Don Dingman and his wife Dixie of Greenfield, Marily Dingman of Richmond, Virginia, Larry Dingman of Anamosa, Lyle Dingman and his wife Carol of Wichita, Kansas, Mrs. Roger Hall (Sharon), a sister of Anamosa and Elaine Dingman of Glidden and Debra Dingman of Vail. He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother, father-in-law, infant brother Cecil Wayne and brother-in-law Donald Stephenson.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 4, 1986 at the United Methodist Church in Scranton with the Rev. Gerald Armstrong officiating. Burial was in the Scranton Cemetery. Casket bearers were Loren Myers, Steve Myers, Charles Blair, Dennis Anson, Don Schultz, Bill Luchsinger, Lee Blair and Mick Waddingham.
