Obituary

Dinah Compton was the daughter of Stephen Compton and Laura Ballard. She was born October 30th, 1876. She spent her early childhood in Earlham, Iowa until she was married. She was married to W. H. Overholser on January 9, 1901, at Earlham, Iowa. To this union two children were born, a son, Martin, and a daughter, Laura.

They spent two years in the state of Washington. They then returned to Guthrie Center, Iowa, where they farmed for fourteen years. In February 1917, the family moved to Artesian where they resided on a farm for 31 years, moving to Mitchell, South Dakota March 1st, 1948. Mrs. Overholser passed away August 26th at Mitchell at the age of 75 years and 10 months.

She was a member of the Friends church at Earlham, Iowa.

She is survived by her husband, W. H. Overholser, son, Martin of Letcher, and daughter, Mrs. Lester Goll, a sister, Mrs. Harry Linn of Adair, Iowa, and a brother, A. B. Compton of Audubon, Iowa, and a host of friends.
