Marguerita (Margie) R. Lafferty, daughter of James LeRoy Lafferty and Grace Belle (Kenyon) Lafferty was born on a farm near Hinton, Iowa on April 8, 1914 and entered eternity May 22, 1987 at the Winterset Care Center North after a long illness.
At a young age she moved to Correctionville where she spent most of her young life. In 1954, Margie, her mother and grandmother moved to Winterset where she was employed for a number of years at the Farmers and Merchants State Bank. While living in Winterset, her caring and compassionate nature was in evidence as she provided personal home care for both her grandmother and mother during lengthy illnesses deading to their deaths.
Margie’s retirement years were spent in Earlham residing at Pioneer Place, close to her sister, where she ministered to the needs of older residents while her health permitted. Margie was a member of the Church of Christ at Earlham serving as a living example of the benefits of a close relationship with the Lord during adversity.
Survivors include her sister Geneva Hougham of Earlham, two nephews, Norman Hougham of Earlham, his wife Evelyn and daughter Jill and Larry Hougham of Adel, his wife Carol, son Ronald and daughter Barbra.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 26, 1987.
