Isaiah Pickrell, son of Wm. P. and Mary Williams Pickrell, was born near Pickrelltown, Logan Co., Ohio, February 27th, 1831. He departed this life March 9, 1906 at Earlham, Iowa at the age of 75 years and 10 days.
In the early fifties with his parents, he moved to Pleasant Plain, Iowa. In 1858 they moved to Oskaloosa and resided there and at New Sharon until 1895, since which time the family home has been at Earlham.
In September, 1860, he was married to Elizabeth Hiatt who, with six children, survives; Cyrus of La Conner, Washington; Mary Michener of New Providence; Carrie of Oskaloosa; Will of Atlantic, Idaho; Anna Howard of New Providence; Amos of Bottineau, N. D. One daughter died in early childhood. Two sisters, Sarah Jane Pickrell and Martha Beede of Oskaloosa, survive him.
He was a birthright member of the Friends church and was always a faithful and active member.
He took deep interest in all questions of public welfare and voiced his deepest convictions. His life has been above reproach.
The community regret his sudden removal and will reverence his memory. The sincere sympathy of all goes out to the bereaved ones both those present and those who were unable to come to the funeral. On Monday afternoon at the Friend’s Church the funeral services were conducted by the pastor. The interment was postponed one day awaiting the arrival of his son Amos who had failed to arrive in time for the funeral.
Note: Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
