Wednesday, April 5, 2000PEORIA - Mildred I. Bates, 80, of Lorimor, Iowa, formerly of Eldon, Iowa, the mother of a Peoria man, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Madison County Hospital in Winterset, Iowa.
Born April 7, 1919, in Bidwell, Iowa, to John and Beulah Brown Beghtol, she married Bruce Bates on April 10, 1937. He died Aug. 15, 1986.
One son, David, and one great-granddaughter also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Harry ''Ed'' of Peoria and Richard of Drakesville, Iowa; three daughters, Barbara Weeks of Lorimor, Mary Jo Balmer of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Cheryle Miller of Warsaw; two brothers, Wilbur Beghtol of Pleasant Hill, Mo., and John 'Jack' Beghtol of Staunton, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon, where visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today and family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight. Burial will be in Eldon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Lorimor Rescue Unit.
