October 1925James McKray was born in Johnson County, Iowa January 18th, 1853 and died at his home in Hancock, Iowa, Oct. 11th, 1925, aged 72 years, 8 months and 23 days.
He was the son of James and Annie McKray. He lived with his parents until he was 21 years of age coming to Pottawattamie County in 1874.
He was united in marriage to Miss Emma Cartwright on Jan. 30th, 1878, at Marengo, Iowa. To this union 4 sons were born, John, of De Soto, Iowa, Ralph, of Earlham, Iowa, Fred, of Aberdeen, S. D., and Howard, of Filer, Idaho.
His wife passed away in February 1919. After that time he made his home with his sons until April 30, 1925, when he was married to Miss Ada Stevenson at Hancock, Iowa, where he resided until the time of his death.
He was survived by his wife, 4 sons and 10 grandchildren, also 2 brothers, Melvin of Hancock, Iowa, and Millard of Earlham, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian Church Friday, Oct. 16 at 2:00 p.m. and interment in Earlham Cemetery. The service will be conducted by Rev. W. P. Fink.
