February 1919Emma Etta Cartwright was born at Ladora, Iowa, October 6, 1860 and passed from this life at the Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, February 13, 1919 at the age of 59 years, 4 months and 7 days.
She was married January 30, 1878 to James McKray at Marengo, Iowa. To this union were born four sons: John J., Ralph C., Fred D. and Howard S. All of whom were at the funeral and acted as pall-bearers.
She is survived by her husband, her four sons and her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Cartwright.
Mrs. McKray was a distant relative of the famous Peter Cartwright, one of the great pioneer preachers of frontier days.
At the age of thirty years she united with the Christian church at Frank Pierce, Iowa.
She with her husband and mother had come from their home in Tolstoy, South Dakota, to visit the sons and other relatives here, little thinking she would be called so soon to her eternal home. But she was ready for the summons for her faith was firm and her heart trusting in her Savior.
Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Pastor, Rev. J. B. Howard, assisted by Rev. Cachiaras of the Christian Church.
