JEFFREY YOUNG, St. Charles

Jeffrey Michael Young, 34, of St. Charles died Dec. 31, 2008, at his home.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 5, at the St. Charles Parish Church with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery. Contributions may be directed to the family for a memorial to be decided at a later date. Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Home in Osceola.

Jeff Young was born Sept. 25, 1974, in Des Moines to Thomas Gene and Deborah Kae (Flygstad) Young and was a 1993 graduate of Interstate 35 High School. His marriage to Lesa Hope Austin took place Oct. 1, 1994, in St. Charles. Jeff worked for AgLeader as an engineering technician for the past 11 years. He attended the St. Charles Parish Church and was a member of the Truro United Methodist Church as a youth. Jeff also was a coach for the youth basketball program at Interstate 35 for the past 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Ione Young, and stepgrandparents, Alton and Harriett Berggren and Milton Young.

He is survived by his wife, Lesa, of St. Charles; two daughters, Emily Young and Allyson Young, both of St. Charles; his father, Tom Young of St. Charles; his mother, Deborah Berggren of Stanhope; two sisters, Holly Young of St. Charles and Heather Abel of Ames; and grandparents, Orlyn and Lois Flygstad of Stanhope and Helen Young of St. Charles.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Parish Church. Visitation will open at noon on Sunday at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Family will be present to greet friends 3 to 5 p.m.. Interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery.

Jeff was employed as an Engineering Technician for Ag Leader in Ames for the past eleven years.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lesa Young and daughters, Emily & Allyson Young of St. Charles.

Contributions may be directed to his family for a fitting memorial to be decided at a later date.
