Garnetta "Nean" Wade, 88, died at Union Park Nursing Home in Des Moines on Thursday, January 1, 2009. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 5 at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery.
Garnetta was born in St. Charles, IA on October 9, 1920 to Edgar and Retta Lathrum and graduated from Ankeny High School in 1938. She made a home in Des Moines with her husband, Terrell G. Wade and their five children and most recently lived in Bondurant. She retired from the Des Moines Rubber Stamp Company and enjoyed watching football and solving crossword puzzles.
Nean is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Glen) DeMaranville; two sons, Dennis and Randy (Amanda) Wade; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Opal Bechol, Clark Lathrum, JoAnna Miller and Twylla Milligan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Terrell G. Wade; son, Terrell G. Wade, Jr.; and daughter, Neana "Gayle" Jordan.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, January 4 at the funeral home.
