Oren B. Hadley son of Anson and Mary Barnett Hadley was born at the farm home in the Bear Creek Community on February 21, 1889.

He attended country school at Bear Creek and graduated from the Earlham Academy in 1907 and took a Commercial course the next winter. The following winter he attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

He was a birthright member of the Bear Creek Meeting and lived his entire life within 1 ½ miles of the church.

He was married to Pearle Gingery February 21, 1912. Their two sons, Merritt and Daylon preceeded him in death. Two daughters Mildred and Lee survive.

Oren served as clerk of the Monthly Meeting, school director and for several years as township clerk until elected supervisor in 1936. He helped to complete surfacing all public roads in Dallas county and in establishing the maintenance system. One of his main concerns as supervisor was the welfare of indigent people and the county home.
